ARTICLE
I
Name
The name of our
organization shall be University Unitarian Universalists
ARTICLE
II
Purpose
The purpose of the
organization is to provide information and activities that will educate
Florida State students and other Young Adults about Unitarian
Universalism and other relevant religious movements and social justice
issues. We are dedicated to helping students explore their own and
other religious traditions and teachings in order to make informed
choices for themselves. We will offer support and friendship during the
process of exploring moral issues.

III
Membership
Membership must be at
least
Florida StateUniversity students. Faculty, staff, students from TCC and FAMU
and any member of the community are welcome to attend meetings. Our organization will not discriminate on the basis of
race, creed, religion, gender identification, sex, age, national
origin, marital status, parental status, disability, sexual
orientation, political affiliation, or the inability to pay dues.

IV
Officers
The Executive Board
includes the President, Vice President-Secretary, and Treasurer. Each
position is one full calendar year beginning and ending in January.
Elections are held in January of each year. The Executive Board will
inform members of the date, time and place of the election at least 10
days in advance. This may be done by phone, mail, e-mail or personal
contact. Only current members of the organization who are officially
registered as Florida State University Students may fill positions.
Nominations may be made at the meeting or in advance in writing. All
nominees must agree to their nomination. Method of election will be by
simple majority vote of the membership in attendance at the meeting.
The faculty advisor
shall
be an interested member of the University faculty who is an active
Member or Friend of the Unitarian Universalist Church of Tallahassee.
The Executive Board will select a faculty advisor from eligible
candidates in April of every year for the following calendar year. Two
people of the three-person Executive Board must agree on a faculty
advisor before he/she can be elected into the organization.
ARTICLE
V
Officers and Duties
The President chairs
official and planning meetings and sees that requirements are met to
maintain FSU student organization status and that all student
organization rules are observed. The Vice President-Secretary performs
the duties of the President in the President's absence, assists the
President in performing his/her duties and takes minutes at official
and planning meetings and maintains a file with our official papers.
The Treasurer shall keep accounts, deposit the organization's funds,
and make expenditures. The Executive Board is responsible for notifying
members of meetings. It also sees to the smooth functioning of the
organization in accord with its goals. The Executive Committee convenes
once per month (during Fall and Spring semesters) with other current
members at the Planning meeting, where activities for the month are
planned.
The Campus Minister
shall
be a representative of the Unitarian Universalist Church of
Tallahassee, chosen by their board, and shall serve as the primary
liaison between the University Unitarian Universalists organization and
the Unitarian Universalist Church of Tallahassee. He/she will also
serve to minister to the students of the group, help plan discussions
and religious meetings and assist the Executive Committee in fulfilling
administrative duties.
Faculty Advisor: The
duties
of the faculty advisor are to provide input concerning ways that can be
used to accomplish the stated goals of the organization, and guidance
to the group and individuals in their explorations.

VI
Amendments
The constitution will
be
evaluated during the January election time each year by the Executive
Committee. At any other time, members can propose amendments or
deletions during a meeting. The proposed change shall be discussed and
voted upon at the following planning meeting. Amendments must also be
approved by the Director of Student Activities and Organizations.

ARTICLE
I
Membership
Current Members are
defined
as those students who attend at least three activities during the
calendar year or who ask an officer that they be considered a member.
Attendance at meetings will be kept as a part of the meeting minutes.
Any currently enrolled FSU student may join this organization by
attending a meeting of the group and showing proof of student status.Membership must be
Florida StateUniversity students. Faculty, staff, students from TCC and FAMU
and any member of the community are welcome to attend meetings. All membership is in effect until which
time he or she does not attend at least one meeting during either the
Fall or Spring semester and does not ask to be considered a member. A
member can withdraw at any time. All current members are eligible to
vote in regular elections, at planning meetings, and on issues which
come up for a vote.

II
Committees
The Executive
Committee
authorizes the formation of committees within the organization.
Committees may also form if a 2/3 majority of the Core members vote in
favor of the formation of a new committee.

III
Financial Provisions
There are no dues,
initiation fees, or fines for this organization. Individuals may donate
to the costs of running the organization through a donation box brought
to each meeting. Other costs will be covered from donations by UUCT and
through occasional fundraising projects.

IV
Vacancies
If a vacancy occurs
during
the term, the remaining members of the Executive Board in consultation
with the Faculty Advisor will appoint an eligible person to fill the
vacancy. The members will ratify this appointment at the next planning
meeting by a 2/3 majority vote.
ARTICLE
V
Meetings
Religious discussions
and
meetings occur on a weekly basis. Planning Meetings will be conducted
on a monthly basis. Voting shall occur at the Planning Meetings. More
frequent meetings may be called if determined by the officers. Members
shall be notified of meetings via email and phone, through newsletters,
flyers, listings in the Overview section of FSView, and other methods.
Times and Locations of religious meetings shall be determined at the
start of each semester, based on current members schedules.
ARTICLE
VI
Voting Process
Voting shall occur at
Planning Meetings, unless it is absolutely necessary that a vote occur
prior to the next planning meeting. The decision regarding necessity
shall be made by the Executive Committee. In order for a motion
regarding amendments to the Constitution and by-laws or ratifying new
officers to carry, no less than 2/3 of the voting members must approve
it. All other votes require a simple majority. Votes may also be made
via email or phone, if a current member is unable to attend the
planning meeting and desires to vote.
